Stupid ass Republicans.

Let’s talk about those Republicans, shall we?

From the moment President Obama won the Democratic nomination, ALL of the GOP set forth their plan to be completely against him and make sure he fails. Is it because he’s a Democrat? Maybe. Is it because he’s black? Let’s not go there.

Let’s discuss a couple of these memes.

“1st Credit Downgrade”. First of all, Linking the nation’s credit downgrade to the president’s race? You can’t tell me that the GOP/Tea Party isn’t racist, no matter how you spin it. Secondly, if you ever paid attention to S&P’s reason for the downgrade, you’d know that it isn’t the President’s fault. It’s Congress. You know, the men and women who fought back and forth over whether to raise the debt ceiling? You know, the one task that always never been an issue until now and only takes 5 minutes? You know, the one that ALL the Republicans fought and voted against every single idea until the last minute because they oh so care about the country’s financial future that they were willing to let the country default on its loans? But that’s okay. Let’s blame it on the black guy!

“The Stimulus”. Hmmm, unemployment was rapidly rising…since before Obama had taken office. The economy was on a rapid decline…since before Obama had taken office. The country has been in 2 wars…since before Obama had taken office. See the pattern here? I don’t need to paint more pictures. By 2010, after the stimulus passed, the number of people losing their jobs declined from the hundreds of thousands before it passed to just around 30,000. But let’s ignore that. Unemployment could have actually been 3 times the 9.1% (let me correct THAT for you) that its currently stable right now. But let’s ignore that. The stimulus SAVED thousands of jobs. But let’s ignore that. Several Republican governors, INCLUDING GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE RICK PERRY, had no problems accepting some of the stimulus money for their states. The big bank bailout? All the money paid back, including profit. Without it, the banks would have failed and so would the country. But let’s ignore that, too.

“Ignored the economy for 2 years”. The 2009 stimulus. Sure, the man has talked and talked and talked but had he tried to do something, the GOP opposed every idea he could come up with. Hell, they opposed the idea before he could come up with it. Now he’s trying to do something about the jobs. Guess what? The GOP are opposing it. No surprise there. But didn’t President Bush ignore the economy for 8 years? Thought so.

“Give your money to those who didn’t”. Maybe it’s me but I could have sworn that this has been going on for decades…BEFORE anybody even knew who President Obama was. But of course, the GOP is only concerned with themselves and their wealthy peers. They want to cut entitlement programs that include food stamps and Medicaid and, oh no! Social Security. They tried to vote against unemployment benefits. They want to cut the Department of Education. I guess education isn’t important enough anymore.

“States covered in oil”. Isn’t this BP’s fault? Didn’t BP get reprimanded for it? I could have sworn that BP is also still getting hell for this. What did you want Obama to do, scuba dive to the bottom of the gulf and put a band-aid on it?

You see, everything that this man has tried to do, the GOP and their tea-baggin’ supporters tried to block. They’ve used stupid, senseless scare tactics, spun everything negatively and ignored anything positive that came out of this administration.

Let’s list this administration’s accomplishments during the 2 years that Democrats held control of both the Senate, House and the White House:

  • START Treaty: Reducing the world’s nuclear stockpiles, working toward Ronald Reagan’s goal of a world without nuclear weapons, locking down loose nuclear materials so it doesn’t end up in the hands of terrorists. The GOP said they would deny him this political win. It was a “save the world” win because if you care about, oops, “it’s the nuclear end of the world,” you care about treaties like this getting passed.
  • The fair pay act for women
  • Expanding children’s health insurance
  • New hate crimes legislation they (GOP) said could not be done
  • Tobacco regulation
  • Credit card reform
  • Student loan reform
  • The stimulus — which in addition to helping pull this country back from the brink of a great depression, was also the largest tax cut ever
  • The largest investment in clean energy ever
  • The largest investment in education in our country ever
  • There was also a little thing you may have heard of called health reform
  • Wall Street reform
  • The improvements to the new G.I. Bill…that the elephants opposed
  • The most expansive food SAFETY BILL SINCE THE 1930s
  • Patent Reform
  • The repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

By halfway through his term, that’s roughly 85% of his list of his agenda completed. Done. Achieved. Accomplished. For a first term president, excuse my French but I’d say that’s pretty fucking major. There are still some things he’d like to do: energy reform, immigration reform, end the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, closing Guantanamo. Even losing his 60 vote majority in the Senate, he was still able to pass major legislation.

Since the GOP has taken control of House, nothing was done. They can’t repeal health care, although they tried, because the Dems still control the Senate. Waste of time. Most of them oppose the repeal of DADT, a couple of them trying to delay the repeal taking effect this Tuesday. The GOP is using scare tactics and the people are falling for it. What I don’t understand is the  Republican opposition even to things Republicans had proposed in the first place, unified Republican opposition to their own ideas.

Now we’re on the brink of one of the 8 racist, homophobic GOP candidates spewing nonsense bullshit that they THINK will work but really won’t, running our country. If you’ve seen any debates so far, heard any of their individual speeches, they’ve already set the undertone, “Let’s get this (insert word for black man) out of the White House, NOW!”

Sure, I’ve repeatedly said that the president doesn’t have a backbone and he needs to grow  some balls and a spine. Sure, I don’t agree with a few things he’s done such as the fine for not having health care. Whether you agree or disagree with some of what Democrats have done in the first two years of President Obama’s presidency, they have freaking done it. It’s disappointing that the nation as a whole tends to give him little credit for what he has done.

If President O loses in 2012, God help this country.

And this why I love you AJ you’re always on point

A-FUCKIG-MEN

Because people expect him to put on a cape and fly around the city with fucking x-ray vision that’s why. He’s done so much in the span of just three minimal years and people have completely turned away from that. There’s even a fucking website listing what the man has done!

These are things you probably didn’t know but probably SHOULD know about the US

Also, let me just add that I love Obama as a guy. Picture of him working with his kids? REBLOG because he’s gotta be a fucking amazing father. Picture of him eating waffles? Fuck yeah! I like world leaders who eat waffles.

Is he perfect? No. Fuck no. Nobody is. Especially not politicians. And looking in on all this, I do not agree with everything he believes in; HOWEVER, and correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that (the fact that he is not perfect) why there are so many different tiers of the US government? To keep the presidential power in check and to correct errors?

Yup. So why is it that the large anti-Obama influence in the other tiers of the American government are working together not to make any real change, but simply to stop anything Obama is trying to do? And then, AND THEN, my friends, the anti-Obama legion (because it’s not just Republicans, and not all Republicans take part in the anti-Obama movement), scream out, “OBAMA IS DOING NOTHING. NOOOOOOOOTHING.”

I just don’t understand. Even French politics make more sense right now. Mon dieu…

omg thank you. It’s about time someone straightened this out. I can’t stand everyone saying ‘he’s done nothing’ and blahblah. really?
